The 2009 BET Awards: Photos and Video

I had some technical difficulties posting ealier, but I wasn't moved because I was truly dissapointed in the BET award this year. But due to the overwhelming responses I got in my email, I decided to go ahead and post some highlights (if you can call them that) of the show.

The show opened with New Edition singing “I Want You Back” as a tribute to Michael.

Then Jamie came out, cracked a few jokes and did the moonwalk. Check out the video:

In one of the most awkward moments of the night, KeKe Palmer decided to sing before presenting an award...I still don't understand why.

In another awkward momet Chaka Khan told LeToya don't worry about winning Grammys becase she has plenty of time. It was suppose to be encouraging but it sounded like she didn't think that poor girl would ever get one.

Ne-Yo took off his hat exposing his foolish looking head in respect for MJ. This was actually one of my favorite performances. Check out the video:

Now several credible sources say she was supposed to perform "Diva" and be joined onstage by Kanye for the "Ego" remix but she had to change her whole show for "tribute" purposes. I think this was the BIGGEST mistake BET has ever made. How can you make Sasha Fierce boring??

On the gossip tip, I heard Jay-Z refused to perform if Chris Brown touched the stage, and clearly he got his way....

Someone at BET decided to let Ciara sit down and sing. What kind of sense does that make?? She's agreat dancer, wouldn't it have been better to let her...I don't know....DANCE!!!! Yeah, well here is the video of her horrible performance:

Aside from the blatent Negrodom of the show, the fact that BET had a whole award ceremony put together and then tried to change it at the last minute proved to be a disaster. I can say with confidence that this was the worst BET awards I have ever seen. Im sad Michael has passed but even sadder that his death turned the BET awards into a damn circus. The concesus has been that they should have left the show AS IS and did a small tribute to him at the end. Do better BET....
