Hoping for Oscar Gold

Congratulations are in order for Taraji P. Henson and Viola Davis. They both received Academy Award nominations this morning in the “Best Supporting Actress” category for their roles in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Doubt, respectively.

Taraji P. Henson plays Queenie, the woman who acts as nursemaid to Benjamin Button, a man who is aging backwards and has been born with the body of an old man. This is her first Academy Award Nomination.

Viola Davis plays Mrs. Miller, an African-American woman who learns that her son may be the victim of abuse by a priest at his school. This is her first Academy award Nominaton.

The awards ceremony itself will be held on Sunday 22 February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, where they have been staged since 2002.
