Star Tidbits: Idol to add another judge and a cop pulls a gun on Diddy

Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi will sit alongside Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson when the eighth season of "American Idol" premieres in January, the Fox network annouced today.

DioGuardio's songs have been recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Pink, among others.

With Kara by her side, Paula has some backup and now there is going to be a lot more `girl power' on the show," said Mr. Darnell (President of alternative programming of Fox).

Maybe the change will be good for Idol, it was getting a little stale...

The NY Daily News is reports: A cop pulled a gun on rap mogul Sean Combs during a routine traffic stop in Los Angeles, authorities said Sunday. A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy briefly brandished his weapon at Combs on the Sunset Strip after cops pulled over a car driven by a member of his entourage.

“A deputy pulled his firearm, fearing for his safety,” said a sheriff’s department spokesman. “The situation was deflated as quickly as it began.” Combs spokeswoman Keesha Johnson said the cop did not pull the gun directly on the rapper, and stressed that the officers were “really respectful.”

The driver was not issued a ticket, and nobody was hurt in the incident, police said.
