The Best National Anthem Performances of all Time

My last post (and the fact that it's a slow news day) inspired me to search out the 5 best National Anthem performances ever...Maybe Jennifer Hudson will take somebody's spot - we will have to see Thursday. In the meantime, here is my list:

#5 Marvin Gaye

This was hands down the most unique on the list. Not a super powerful vocal delivery, but he made it interesting and I was entertained from start to finish.

#4 Faith Hill

Country singer Faith Hill has a voice made for songs like this. She has just enough control and power to give an almost flawless rendition of the song. I just wish she took more chances...

#3 Destiny's Child

This rendition was the most entertaining to me. The harmonies are on point, the ladies are beautiful, and I like to laugh at Michelle in the very beginning when she says "mmmhmmm" lol. Oh, and check out the fan blowing in all their hair at the end...I'm a sucker for theatrics.

#2 Beyonce

Beyonce sang this anthem like she wanted to cement her place in history as a diva and future Icon. The delivery was perfect. She kept control and didn't get too crazy with the runs, and it looks as if the song genuinely touched her. A++ for an excellent performance and classy look to boot. And she did it all in her home town Houston, TX.

#1 Whitney Houston

As long I live, I don't think I will witness a better National Anthem performance than this. Whitney's confidence, power, and beauty just shine through this whole performace. She earns the top slot because after watching this video, it seems like this was effortless to her. Almost like this is how she sounds every morning when she is singing in the shower. Bravo Whitney, Bravo.

Honorable mentions: Mariah Carey, JoJo, and Fantasia.

What do you think of my list? Who would you add/take away?
